CER (Carbon Emissions Reduction)

CER is the touchstone of all that we do at CarbonLow. We believe that it is vital that all our services and products take their place as part of your CER Implementation Strategy (CERIS).

CarbonLow Emissions is retained by private and public sector organisations to provide detailed CERIS documents - for examples see our case study below.

We have linked our CERIS - see summary below - to our iCAT system to monitor our own progress.


CarbonLow CER Implementation Strategy

  1. Management
    1. The CarbonLow Carbon Emissions Reduction (CER) Strategy will be overseen by a main Board Director.
    2. Each CarbonLow Company and location will have a Carbon Champion to monitor and coach on day-to-day implementation
  2. Property
    1. Offices will use renewable form of heating as most appropriate to location
    2. Offices will use low and ultra-low energy (LED) lighting
    3. Office Energy use will be recorded in CLOEE with a target reduction of 3% year on year
    4. All office equipment shall be switched off when not in use for more than 10 minutes
  3. Supply Chain
    1. All Deliveries will recorded in CLOEE and Suppliers ranked by price and delivered (embodied plus delivery) CO2
    2. Local suppliers will be sought wherever possible
    3. Suppliers providing embodied carbon labels will be preferred
    4. Offices shall use only recycled paper
  4. Travel
    1. All Staff, Associates and Contractors will have CLOEE accounts to record business travel including commuting
    2. Travel claims must be accompanied by a CLOEE Individual Monthly Carbon Statement
    3. CarbonLow has adopted a single 'rate of mileage' across all modes of transport to encourage the use of more efficient modes with 'half rate applicable to virtual meetings
    4. Home working and Virtual meetings will be encouraged
    5. Company Cars and Lease/hire vehicles will have a maximum CO2 emission of 120g/km and this will be reviewed again in 2012
  5. Waste
    1. Office Waste will be recycled where reasonably possible
    2. Suppliers will be encouraged to remove and recycle packaging as part of the purchase agreement
